This photomontage made in 1969 represents the proposed location for the construction of the future Hotel Le Concorde on Grande-Allee in 1969. The project was proposed by the Concordia Group to the municipal council of Quebec City.
The architecture of the Hotel Le Concorde Quebec is the work of Dimitri Dimakopoulos who wanted to combine old times and modernism in the creation of this emblematic building of Quebec City.
The Concorde has been pioneering in several chapters: it is here that we find the first rotary restaurant and the first panoramic elevator in the whole province of Quebec.
Dimitri Dimakopoulos’s plans are brought to life: the construction of a 29-floor hotel with 454 bedrooms is progressing fast!
The building is officially inaugurated under the hotel chain Loews Hotel Holding Corporation on April 1st 1974.
The famous hotel chain Loews announces the closure of its hotel located on Grande Allee, Quebec City. The project of converting the building in luxurious student residencies is put on the table by an important investor. An agreement is even reached.
Loews Le Concorde officially shuts down and is bought by Mr Eddy Savoie for $11.5 M.
A few weeks later, the hotel was bought again for $13.0 M by a hotel group led by M. Jean-Guy Sylvain, also owner of Hotel Universel Quebec and Ambassadeur Hotel & suites.
The new Hotel Le Concorde Quebec officially opens, after a $1.5 M investment in a month to completely redo the hotel hall.
Restos Plaisir Group officially opens the Ciel! Bistro Bar on the Concorde highest floor.
In Fall 2016, the urban spa opens on the hotel’s 4th floor, where once stood an outdoor pool. A relaxation area is then created, including an indoor heated pool, two spas, two saunas and a place to relax.
Hotel Le Concorde Quebec celebrates its five years of existence in a building that is nearly fifty years old. The hotel is nowadays a Quebec City landmark and an essential part of the urban landscape of the region.
